Grader Operator

Overview

Zell Industries Inc. is a stump to dump forest company that has been in the business for over 40 years. We have operations in both North & Central Alberta with our office located in Spruce Grove. We are seeking a skilled Grader Operator with a minimum of 3 years experience in forestry environments on the Eastern slopes of Alberta. This role will involve operating grader to prepare and maintain forest roads, including main haul, and cut block roads. For the summer months this will be a Monday – Friday shift, working with the log trucks. Winter months will require some flexibility with scheduling to ensure roads are well maintained during changing road conditions.

Responsibilities:

· Follow all safety protocols and regulations, including those related to heavy equipment operation and forestry work.

· Contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of our forestry operations.

· Communicate effectively with supervisors, loader operators, and log truck drivers.

· Level and grade surfaces ensuring road integrity and proper drainage.

· Operate the grader to do various tasks such as (but not limited to) maintaining haul road, rough to finish grading, shape shoulders and slopes, drive on main roads between sites.

· Preform daily maintenance and inspections on the grader.

Skills and Experience:

· Strong understanding of grading techniques and best practices.

· Familiarity with forestry road construction, environmental, and maintenance standards.

· Ability to work independently with little to no supervision and as part of a team.

· Excellent communication, familiar with working on radio controlled roads with logging trucks.

· Ability to work in various weather conditions and outdoor environments.

Desired Skills:

· Knowledge of forestry equipment maintenance and repair.

· Cat and Excavator experience building and reclaiming logging roads.

This is a permanent full time position, 10 months/year, long term contract in the Edson/Drayton Valley area of Alberta. This is a camp job with single room accommodation, camp cook and cleaners, with all meals provided. We also have on-site free laundry. Benefits are also provided after 3 months.
