About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Geothermal Drilling Engineer
to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in the design, planning, and execution of geothermal drilling operations. This includes preparation and implementation of drilling engineering programs, regulatory agency approvals, optimization and management of drilling processes and operations, and preparation and maintenance of the drilling budget. You will work closely with geoscientists, drilling consultants and contractors, and project managers to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling activities.
Key Responsibilities
•Prepare and manage drilling programs to ensure timely and efficient execution of all geothermal drilling and testing activities, from planning to execution.
•Ensure that drilling tasks have been thoroughly researched, engineered, analyzed and implemented with regulatory agency approval and in a safe and efficient manner.
•Prepare the drilling budget and control expenditures.
•Monitor and analyze drilling performance data to optimize operations and minimize risks.
•Manage contract company representatives.
•Provide technical guidance and support to field operations.
•Work within TLS Geothermics’ team of geologists and project managers to design effective drilling programs and to solve issues while drilling.
•Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
•Stay updated on the latest advancements in drilling techniques and adjust drilling operations accordingly to incorporate them.
Other responsibilities
•Provide support to the TLS Geothermics team on various project management matters for exploration-phase projects leading to drilling, as needed.
•Participate or support research and development activities related to drilling innovative techniques, as needed.
Qualifications
•Master or Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geothermal Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

•Solid knowledge of drilling techniques, well design, and geothermal energy systems.
•Knowledge of U.S. geothermal permitting and regulatory environment.
•Strong problem-solving skills and project management skills.
•Proven ability and desire to work independently.
•Ability to work in a busy work environment with intense periods of activity. Some weekend work could be required.
•Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
Location and benefits
•The position is based in Reno Nevada. While we currently operate remotely, we plan to establish a presence in a local co-working space in the near future.
