Reporting to the Geotechnical Supervisor and Intermediate Geologist(s), the Geotechnician will collaborate closely with the field team to collect and record geotechnical data, and complete sample collection, preparation, and analysis while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety.
This a short term position extending to the end of the 2026 Exploration Drill Season, with the opportunity to rejoin the Team for the next season.
LOCATION
This position will be based at the Rook I site on a 2 week in/2 week out schedule. Accommodations and meals are provided while on rotation. Travel logistics to/from site are coordinated by NexGen.
The position is a contract, term position based at NexGen’s Rook I Camp. The primary duties include the following:
- Drill core storage coordination and upkeep.
- Geotechnical processes and sampling of drill core.
- Data collection and reporting.
- Assist Field Technicians as needed.
- Assist Exploration Services team as required.
- Any other duties reasonably requested by the Company.
The successful candidate will conduct business in a manner consistent with NexGen’s principles of safety, integrity, and quality.
- High school diploma or equivalent required (grade 12).
- Must hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Fluent computer skills and proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to lift 50lbs regularly throughout the shift.
- Prior experience working in mineral exploration or mining is considered.
- Completion of the Pathways to Your Future program.
- Participation in a NexGen Summer Student program.
- Experience in QA-QC procedures.
- A strong work ethic and excellent communication skills.
- Highly motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to record accurate data.
