As a Generation Technologies Solutions Engineer you will be part of a larger team delivering high quality technology solutions to the business. Design, develop and install software solutions. Build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software in compliance with internal architecture, development & design standards & best practices. Design, modify, develop, write, implement and troubleshoot software programming applications. Support and/or install software applications. Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Works within a Waterfall or Agile methodology/framework-based team. Collaborates heavily with Project Management, Business Analyst and Infrastructure Job Families.

Job Description What You'll Do:

- Provide support for various vendor applications that facilitate the operation of AEP's Generation Fleet (Fossil, Hydro, Renewables, SMR), including:

- Engineering design tools (such as Bentley and Autodesk software, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ProjectWise), continuous monitoring systems (InsightCM/Machinery Health Manager), safety solutions, and clearance and lockout/tagout systems (eSoms).

- Participate in IT projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and integrating new technologies.

- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn new technologies and promote their implementation.

- Foster trust and collaborate effectively across teams, System Integrators, and job families to achieve complex objectives.

- Participate in a rotation for after-hours (24/7) on-call support.

- Familiarity with and/or willingness to learn power plant operations or generation engineering is advantageous

What We're Looking For:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.

Experience:

5 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

This position will be onsite in Columbus, Ohio at AEP's corporate headquarters location.

Note:

This position will be filled at a range Soultion Engineer Senior to Soultion Engineer Principal based on education and experience.

Preferred Experience:

- Understanding/Troubleshooting of WAN and VPN concepts

- Understanding of both Cloud and On Premise hosting models

- Strong knowledge and experience with SQL/Oracle Databases

- Configuring and supporting various vendor supplied applications

- Intermediate scripting knowledge (Powershell, Java, etc)

- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers both physical/virtual

- Strong experience with end user support

- Civil/Electrical Engineering degree or Computer Science degree strong preferred

- Experience in engineering or within generation plants is desired

- Salary Grade: (7) $85,081.00 - $99,263.00

- Salary Grade: (8) $96,110 - $115,330.00
