GE Power Conversion is seeking a technically accomplished and industry-seasoned Senior Principal Electrical and Systems Engineer to lead the development and execution of advanced electrical systems and drive solutions across the Oil & Gas, Naval, and General Industrial sectors. This role demands deep expertise in electrical systems, power electronics, and drive topologies, with a specialized focus on Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) technology and its applications in STATCOM, arc furnaces, and utility-scale power supply systems.
The candidate will play a pivotal role in both ITO (Inquiry to Order) and OTR (Order to Remittance) phases, supporting risk reviews, technical proposals, and execution strategies to ensure successful delivery of complex projects.
Job Description Roles and Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & System Design
- Architect and lead the design of high-performance electrical systems and drive solutions for:
- Oil & Gas platforms including compressors, pumps, and subsea systems.
- Naval applications such as shipboard propulsion, power distribution, and integrated electric systems.
- Industrial systems including arc furnaces, rolling mills, and large motor drives.
- STATCOM systems for grid support and reactive power compensation.
- Interface with mechanical, controls, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure integrated system performance.
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and field validation of delivered systems.
- Engage with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and drive innovation.
- Collaborate closely with ITO teams to define technical scope, assess risks, and support customer-facing proposal development.
- Participate in risk reviews, ensuring technical feasibility, compliance, and alignment with business goals.
- Provide engineering leadership during OTR execution, ensuring system performance, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical systems engineering, with significant exposure to Oil & Gas, Naval, and Industrial sectors.
- Master's Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Proven expertise in power electronics, drive systems, and MMC topologies.
- Strong understanding of STATCOM, arc furnace systems, and utility-scale power electronics.
- Experience supporting ITO/OTR processes, including risk reviews and proposal development.
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or PLECS.
- Familiarity with relevant standards (IEEE, IEC, MIL-STD) and customer specifications.
- Experience with GE Power Conversion platforms and technologies.
- Knowledge of naval electrical standards and shipboard power architectures.
- Field experience in system commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer support.
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring capabilities.
