Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the GUP/Truck Loader is directly responsible for the inspection and cleaning of rail equipment, the clean-up around conveyor belts and machinery, and performing various tasks throughout the plant. Observes, monitors and reports any conditions that could lead to product non-conformity or other irregularity. Completes all required equipment pre-shift reports on any mobile machinery operated. This position has the organizational ability and authority, as defined by the Plant Production Supervisor, to participate in the implementation of safety programs to ensure the safety of all employees. This position is also specifically given the responsibility and authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product or process, or to the quality system, and to initiate, recommend or provide solutions.
- Operate and perform pre-shift inspections of mobile equipment. Report any defects immediately.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions
- Inspect work areas for safety hazards before beginning any work activity
- Perform general plant clean-up as needed or assigned
- Occasionally lifts and carries equipment/materials of up to 100 pounds- with proper lift techniques and/or necessary lift assist equipment
- Run sweeper, water truck and track mobile equipment
- Load dust and lime trucks
- Gather samples and report non-conformities related to products or processes
- Must be at least 18 years old
- HS Diploma or GED required
- Ability to work shift work with rotating schedule
- Required to achieve a passing score on a Entry-Level Basic Skills test in order to be considered for employment
