YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Underground Mine Superintendent, you will be part of the Mine Department and will contribute to the construction of two new portals and the development of a ramp decline as Meliadine extends their underground operations and production capacity by developing satellite deposits. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
•Participate in the review and analysis of contractor bid submissions;
•Develop an Operational Readiness Plan to ensure the project’s successful launch and ramp up to full production;
•Assist in the development and refinement of project schedules, ensuring alignment with operational requirements;
•Establish clear expectations and performance metrics for the incumbent contractor;
•Set priorities, plan and direct mining activities to maintain effective operations;
•Supervise the contractor's daily activities to ensure compliance with the project scope, schedule, and quality standards;
•Monitor progress, identify potential issues, and proactively implement solutions;
•Inspect and verify the quality of workmanship for all aspects of mining and construction and ramp development. Address issues and develop mitigation plans when present;
•Ensure compliance with engineering designs and specifications;
•Track and monitor project costs and compare to budget;
•Identify potential cost overruns and implement mitigation strategies;
•Maintain detailed and accurate records of daily operational progress and HSEC incidents;
•Provide regular reports to management on project status, performance, and potential risks;
•Communicate effectively with the contractor, engineering team, and other stakeholders;
•Ensure tracking processes are aligned Meliadine’s existing systems (Pitram FMS, Deswik.OPS, etc.);
•Champion a safety culture and ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations and company standards by the contractor;
•Report and investigate all incidents and accidents and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence;
•Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments;
•Develop, promote and enforce safe work practices;
•Implement solutions to address bottlenecks and inefficiencies identified during the project;
•Actively seek opportunities to improve work processes and efficiency and reduce costs during the portal construction and ramp development;
•Make timely and informed decisions, even in the face of uncertainty. Exercise sound judgment to minimize risk while maintaining project momentum;
•Empower your team by providing clear direction, necessary resources, and the autonomy to execute their work effectively;
•Encourage ownership and responsibility;
•Foster a collaborative working relationship with the contractor, promoting open communication, mutual respect, and shared goals.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
•A High School Diploma is required. A post-secondary technical degree in a discipline related to mining or construction is preferred;
•10 years of experience in leading underground mining operations;
•Possess or be eligible to obtain a WSCC Level 2 Supervisor Certification is required;
•Experience with rapid development mining practices and developing a new portal is an asset;
•Experience working in northern remote locations and unheated mining developments is an asset;
•Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude, able to develop and foster a team environment;
•Thorough working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations;
•Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule:
•Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
•Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
