The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.

The General Superintendent will oversee field operations across multiple work zones within the SR400 Express Lanes corridor, ensuring production is aligned with GDOT contract specifications, JV safety standards, and schedule commitments. This position is central to managing self-perform and subcontractor activities across roadway, bridge, drainage, utility, and ITS scopes in coordination with engineering, project controls, and quality teams. The General Superintendent will be a key figure in executing field strategy on a complex, multi-year infrastructure program exceeding $4.6 billion.

- Direct and coordinate work across multiple segments of the corridor, including oversight of superintendents, foremen, field engineers, and subcontractors.

- Collaborate with the Project Controls and Scheduling teams to ensure alignment with the Primavera P6 baseline and 3-week lookaheads.

- Oversee field execution of scopes such as bridge structures, roadway paving, earthwork, temporary traffic control, utility relocation, and storm drainage, in compliance with GDOT TP Attachments.

- Serve as a field liaison with third-party inspectors, GDOT resident engineers, and safety auditors.

- Ensure that all work follows the applicable plans, specifications, and quality requirements—including GDOT Standard Specs and SRTA-mandated documentation.

- Enforce strict adherence to the project safety plan, including conducting safety walks, verifying job hazard analyses (JHAs), and holding toolbox talks.

- Provide field insight to project management on constructability concerns, productivity constraints, labor utilization, and material/equipment needs.

- Lead field kickoff meetings, schedule lookahead reviews, and daily production debriefs to ensure cohesive communication between crews and management.

- Track daily reports, progress quantities, and nonconformance issues using company-standard reporting systems (e.g., Procore, HCSS).

- Participate in staffing and resource planning discussions to ensure segments are adequately resourced as production ramps up

- Support final punch list and closeout processes, working closely with the Quality Manager and Owner’s Representative for turnover acceptance.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies

- Minimum of 15 years of heavy civil construction experience, including 9+ years in a Superintendent role.

- Proven experience leading large DOT infrastructure projects; GDOT or other Southeastern DOT experience preferred.

- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.

- Valid Driver’s License and required safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, STS, First Aid/CPR).

- Strong familiarity with joint venture environments, federally assisted project protocols, and alternate delivery models (Design-Build or DBFM).

Skills And Competencies

- Advanced ability to interpret contract documents, specifications, shop drawings, and work zone traffic control plans.

- Deep understanding of construction sequencing, heavy equipment capabilities, and labor productivity factors.

- Strong leadership, mentorship, and coordination skills across multi-trade operations.

- Proficient in field documentation, safety practices, and conflict resolution.

- Knowledge of prevailing wage compliance, union agreements (if applicable), and EEO workforce tracking is a plus.
