Growing Seasons Landscaping, LLC seeks a General Laborer (multiple openings) to be based out of Canonsburg, PA, with job sites in PA counties (Allegheny, Washington, Greene, Butler, Beaver, Fayette, and Westmoreland) and WV counties (Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, Monongalia, and Marion). Responsible for working independently or as a part of a team in providing various hands-on services, including but not limited to: performing reclaim services (including installing erosion control products, large scale seeding, straw blowing and slope matting); providing landscape services (including mulching, pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs, mowing grass, weeding flower beds, seeding, and planting); plowing and shoveling snow; responding to natural disasters and environmental cleanups; cleaning mobile tanks used in natural disaster and environmental remediation; and attending and participating in paid safety training.
Performing reclaim services also includes wet pond plantings, riparian buffer installation, hyrdroseeding, right of way mowing, and yard repair services.
Providing landscape services also includes (a) operating vehicles and powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chainsaws, electric clippers, edgers, sod cutters, and/or pruning saws (b) using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, and/or axes (c) hauling topsoil and manure (d) using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, and/or watering cans (e) winterizing and restarting water systems (f) mixing and spraying fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides using hand and/or automatic sprayers or spreaders (g) aerating, grubbing, removing thatch, and trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls (h) following project landscape plans and designs (i) maintaining foliage, flowering plants, grass, and ground covers (j) attaching wires and/or support stakes as needed using gardening tools (k) maintaining sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, and other ground features (l) maintaining and repairing tools, equipment, structures, and buildings using hand and/or power tools (m) installing rock gardens, ponds, drainage systems, retaining walls, and fences as needed and (n) caring for turf fields. Specific tools used for pruning and trimming trees include bypass pruners, loppers, pole pruners, pruning saw, curved pruning saw, straight pruning saw, and hand pruning saw.
Plowing and shoveling snow also includes operating snow blowers and vehicles fitted with snowplows as well as physically shoveling walks, driveways, and/or parking lots and spread salt in these areas.
Responding to natural disasters and environmental cleanups also includes complete storm damage removal services and landscape repairs following natural disasters and/or severe weather. Spill cleanup tasks include sweeping, shoveling, raking, cleaning up debris, and washing with hoses and water.
Cleaning mobile tanks also includes (a) caring for and inspecting vehicles, equipment, and tools used for landscape work (b) maintaining supplies and inventory for landscape jobs (c) mixing cleaning solutions, abrasives and/or other compounds according to formulas (d) using water hoses, air hoses, and/or pressure washers (e) disassembling and reassembling machines and/or equipment (f) pre-soaking, rinsing, and/or immersing parts, equipment, and tools in solutions (g) using brooms, shovels, and vacuums to remove loose debris or scrap from vehicles, equipment, and storage areas (h) notifying management if vehicles, equipment, or tools require maintenance or malfunction (i) driving vehicles and/or landscape equipment and (j) lubricating machinery, vehicles, and equipment and/or performing minor repairs or adjustments using hand tools. Tanks are mobile stock tanks of between 200-250 gallons with high-pressure hose reels that shoot out various products such as weed control and pesticides compounds. The tanks need to be cleaned inside and out between uses to remove residue from pesticides, cleaning solutions, and other compounds and to winterize them.
Must be able and willing to: lift up to 80 lbs. and carry up to 50 lbs.; stand for extended periods of time; work outdoors and in adverse weather conditions, as necessary; work overtime, nights and weekends, as required; and wear personal protective equipment. Post-hire employer-paid drug testing required.
Travel required to worksites within PA counties (Allegheny, Washington, Greene, Butler, Beaver, Fayette, and Westmoreland) and WV counties (Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, Wetzel, Monongalia, and Marion). Employer provides transportation to/from worksites, as necessary.
