General Foreman – Mine Operations

East Boulder Mine – McLeod, MT
Schedule:
5x2, 4x3 – 9-hour days
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
The Mine Operations General Foreman will be responsible for leading a segment of the Operations team which includes Mine Support, Development, and Production. Responsibilities will include safety vision and leadership, environmental compliance, people development, monthly mine planning practices, achieving operational objectives, planning and execution of quality work. This person will support the creation of an engaged workplace culture and provide the leadership that promotes continually exploring new technologies to improve worker safety and efficiencies throughout the operation. Collaborate with all departments to ensure effective communications. Participate in the interview process and make recommendations for hiring as well as maintaining costs within budget.
•Promote and maintain a safe work environment, safe work practices, and a strong safety culture.
•Ensure that employees have all the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.
•Interface with Maintenance department on equipment requirements and activities.
•Hold people accountable in a consistent manner, document performance as required, resolve non-conformance issues, and address employee issues with appropriate resources.
•Understand and work within the annual budget, assist in developing and execute the monthly mine plan.
•Set and maintain standards and expectations, conduct documented performance management with supervisors.
•Coordinate and conduct regular workplace audits, Job Safety Observations, and Planned General Inspections
•Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and certifying authority requirements.
•Communicate production and safety goals with the supervisors and crews.
•Create an environment that promotes teamwork and innovation, and actively seek feedback from the workforce and supervisors for continuous improvements.
•Manage manpower requirements, interview, and select employees as budgeted.
•Provide input and feedback on Business Improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
•Solid working knowledge of applicable MSHA rules and regulations.
•Ability to drive planning and scheduling of work and then execute on them.
•Computer skills plus the ability to learn and utilize company authorized software.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
•Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Preferred:
•Independent work habits.
Education and Experience:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Working knowledge of underground mining operations including safety, production, construction, maintenance, economics, equipment and staff utilization with 3 – 5 years of underground mine experience.
•Proven supervisory experience and leaderships skills, with a minimum of 3 - 5 years leadership experience. Underground supervisory experience is required.
•Degree in Mining Engineering, or equivalent, preferred.
