Job Summary:
Lisbon Valley Mining Company (LVMC) is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Mine Manager to lead our mining operations at Lisbon Valley Mine. This role demands a strong leader with a deep understanding of open pit mining, mine planning, safety regulations, and team management. The Mine Manager will oversee all aspects of the mining operation, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership:
•Lead by example in all LVMC safety processes, ensuring safe engineering and operating practices.
•Hold direct reports and department members accountable for safe and productive work practices.
•Ensure on-time and accurate reporting of any incidents related to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
•Manage and ensure strict compliance and ethical behavior with state and federal regulations in all aspects of the business.
Operational Management:
•Oversee and monitor preventive maintenance processes for all mining equipment.
•Review capital improvement plans and make recommendations; evaluate infrastructure, facilities, and operating systems for needed repair and maintenance.
•Ensure open pit optimization and designs are completed to company standards and requirements.
•Supervise the Mining Engineers in compiling accurate production data and reporting.
•Supervise, coordinate, and incorporate inputs from various sections (geology, geotechnical engineering, mine operations survey) into production schedules and designs.
•Manage the engineering department to ensure the development of employees for positions of increasing responsibility.
Mine Planning and Optimization:
•Long, medium, and short-term planning to meet company objectives.
•Waste dump design and location for reduced load and haul costs.
•Review the Mine Life Plan regularly, defining mining strategies to achieve company objectives.
Team Leadership:
•Manage mine operations supervisors, geologists, and other personnel to accomplish the scope of work.
•Direct reports include the Mine Operations Superintendent and Mine Maintenance Superintendent.
•Foster a positive and productive work environment.
Communication and Collaboration:
•Establish and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships.
•Ensure open communication with all departments.
•Attend regular meetings to ensure open communication and gain an understanding of other departmental and company needs.
General Requirements:
•B.S. in Mining/Geological degree preferred.
•8-10+ years of experience in the mining industry, with a minimum of 5+ years of sound managerial leadership experience.
•Experience in open pit optimizations, pit designing, and production scheduling.
•Strong knowledge of Surface Mining operations, including Maintenance and Operations.
•Proficient in the use of Excel, Outlook, and Word, with experience using computer-based engineering software, preferably Vulcan and AutoCAD.
•Experience in the use of mining software packages.
•Good interpersonal and leadership skills with strong emotional intelligence.
•Knowledge and unwavering dedication to safety and health compliance principles.
•Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills are essential for success in this role.
•Proficient in problem-solving and strong analytical skills.
•Strong ability to influence, persuade, and motivate individuals or groups to achieve desired outcomes in a professional and morally ethical way.
•Able to interact with all levels of staff at the mine site.
•Possess a valid driver's license.

Standing, walking, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, crawling, bending, lifting/carrying 10-50 lbs., pushing/pulling 41-100 lbs.
Other Requirements:
•Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing environment, including hard hat, steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, hi-visibility safety vest, hearing protection, and as needed, respirator, rubber boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
•Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
•May be exposed to sulphuric acid, fumes, dust, diesel, gas, oil, solvents, and other hazardous materials.
•Must be able to work extended hours, overtime, and be available for on-call status.
