Reporting to the Sales Director, the GAS TECHNICIAN (G1) is responsible for responding to various inquires related to instrumentation, controls and burner problems on industrial and commercial boilers. He will offer various services to the customers related to maintenance, servicing, start-up and adjustment of burners on boilers. He will respond to service calls and trouble shooting calls at client’s location. The Technician will also ensure that appliances meet the standards for combustion appliances and related equipment.
The Gas Technician (G1) will:
•Perform various maintenance and repair work on boilers such as: 1) Cleaning of the water and fire sides; 2) Replacement of water a fire sides; 3) Lubrification of the burners and boiler components; 4) Burner optimization.
•Perform limits and combustion testing on boilers;
•Assure compliance with combustion emission standards for various residual gases;
•Assure compliance of boiler-related equipment with oil and natural gas standards;
•Complete commissioning and start-ups of boilers;
•Conduct customer maintenance and problem-solving visits;
•Perform troubleshooting of defective equipment;
•Repair and replace defective parts on burners, fuel trains, controllers and boilers;
•Provide quality customer service by explaining the nature of problems and the possible solutions;
•Asist in creating new opportunities and client relations;
•Maintain an orderly and safe work environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
•Mostly on-site work (client’s location);
•Availability to work in and outside of the province from time to time;
•Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights
•Compliance with the health and safety standards of Simoneau & Sterling and it’s clients.
REQUIREMENTS
Technical skills :
•Valid TSSA G1 Gas license;
•Minimum of five (5) years of pertinent experience with boilers and combustion;
•Gas and Oil Burner experience in industrial/commercial industry settings;
•Valid Ontario Driver’s license;
•Knowledge electrical equipment and troubleshooting electrical components;
•Reading and understanding of drawings (electrical and mechanical);
•Experience in mechanical piping and ability to trouble shoot mechanical equipment;
•Knowledge of regulations TSSA & ESA.
