Perform a combination of tasks to include adjusting machine controls, pouring melted metals into molds, and removing castings from molds. Below is a minimal representation of what is expected of a Foundry Worker.
- Properly remove casting from mold
- Remove gates, sprues and other projections from castings (by use of band saw)
- Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. pressure)
- Set up machine to start a production cycle
- Ensure work area is clean and safe
- Perform maintenance on machines as instructed.
- Notify and correct any defects as permissible, if possible according to specifications
- Work with other departments
- Follow oral and written instructions and/or direction given by supervisors to complete assigned work projects
- Other duties may be assigned as needed, this is not a complete list
- Be on time and at your station ready to work
- Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
- Attention to detail.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to occasionally lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Physical capability to properly handle tooling and safely set up large piece.
Manufacturing environment including loud noise levels (at times), heat, dirt, and dust; safety shoes, and safety glasses are a must.
