SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Melt Supervisor, the Crane Operator is responsible for transporting metal from the furnaces to the molds and operating the crane in such a manner that the iron pourer can pour the metal into the molds to make quality casting.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: One to three years of verifiable work history. Experience working in a foundry environment is preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to communicate effectively in one-one-one situations to other employees in the company, especially to the leadman and to the iron pourer.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or touch, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED

While performing the job, the crane operator will regularly use a crane, and occasionally use a hammer, wedges and glue.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to handle hot and dirty conditions. The employee regularly is exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee will frequently work near moving mechanical parts and occasionally will be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
