COMPENSATION $18 - $19
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Forklift Operator / Laborer position is to provide support to the supply chain by collecting, loading, shipping and receiving warehouse products. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment, optimizing loading and supporting other warehouse functions to ensure optimal operation of the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Operate forklift or skid steer - load/unload trucks, move pallets / containers to the appropriate location.
•Sort, trim and separate various types of metals.
•Transfer material from one container or area to another as required.
•Determine different recoveries from material.
•Adhere to quality standards set forth by the company.
•Collect, wrap and stage materials to be shipped for a particular order; monitor intercompany yard transfers.
•Inspect and perform maintenance of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
•Identify safety hazards in the workplace.
•Learn metal sorting criteria, perform product sampling, and perform basic math calculations.
•Work in extreme weather conditions.
•Oversee inventory accuracy, participate in new processes to help inventory control.
•Review and record production entries.
•Assist in physical inventory process and reconciliation of any discrepancies.
•Inspect materials for quality issues, per commodity.
•Participate in special projects or other duties as assigned by Yard Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Previous experience operating forklift in a fast-paced environment;
•Ability to wear personal protective equipment (if applicable); Kevlar gloves, safety glasses and steel toe boots).
•Ability to lift / push / pull 50 - 75 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
•Quick learner who can follow directions.
•Good communication skills.
•Organized, consistent, and good at multitasking.
•Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work.
•Able to pass a pre-employment check.
•Must have reliable transportation to work.
•Knowledge of the various ferrous and non-ferrous metals is a plus.
