FORESTRY OPERATIONS SUPPORT MANAGER / ASSISTANT FOREMAN

Zell Industries Inc. is a stump-to-dump forestry company that has been in business for over 40 years. We have operations in both Noth and Central Alberta with our office located in Spruce Grove.

We are currently looking for a Forestry Operations Support Manager/Assistant Foreman. This would be a seasonal position, with possibility to become full time for the right candidate. This project will be located approximately 2½ hours north of Edmonton, and typically runs from October through to breakup annually.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee daily operations

- Orientate and evaluate new and existing workers

- Ensure safety of all workers and worksite

- Meet production goals

- Comply with all environmental regulations

- Participate in SFI internal and 3rdparty audits

- Manage unforeseen incidents that arise, while remaining calm and focused under extreme circumstances.

Requirements:

- Must have crew supervisory experience

- Must be willing and able to live in camp while on shift

- Minimum 5 years experience in Forest Harvest and Haul Operations

- Safety conscious with a working knowledge of applicable forestry and safety legislation

- Strong leadership ability

- Strong verbal and written communicator with excellent interpersonal skills

- Ability to follow direction and work independently

- Familiar with GPS mapping

- Computer proficient

- Excellent organizational and planning skills to prioritize and balance work

- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract

- Ability to drive in a variety of field and highway conditions

- Graduate of a Forest Tech program, although not required - would definitely be an asset.
