Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Coordinator, Visitor Services & Retail, the Food Services Supervisor will support with the day-to-day operations of food services at Conservation Halton.
•Lead staff through daily/seasonal tasks, providing training on cooking, cleaning, inventory, orders, and cash handling processes.
•Responsible for promoting and maintaining food quality, efficient operations, and high customer service standards contributing to a positive visitor experience.
•Ensure that the food service areas comply with applicable health department regulations
•Mentor and supervise staff, providing coaching and support when needed.
•Support with hiring, onboarding and training of seasonal staff
•Operate, train staff on safe operation of, and assist with maintenance of food service equipment
•Ensure foods areas are stocked with sufficient food, beverages, other supplies, and cash float to support daily customer volume. Moving equipment and other supplies as needed.
•Support with food inventory management, including placing orders, receiving product, completing order inventory, and year end inventory counts.
•Responsible for end of day close outs (cash handling)
•Work closely with the coordinator to develop staff schedules and ensure shift changes are managed to align with business volume; assist with timesheets as needed.
•Coordinate food services for special events, collaborate with and support other departments as needed
•Coordinate the set up and take down of kitchens and other food related areas seasonally
•Assist with the development and implementation of policies, manuals, SOPs, and training practices
•Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals.
•Other duties as assigned
Your Qualifications
•1-2 years experience in a leadership or supervisory role for customer service focused staff
•Knowledge of food services practices and procedures. Previous experience working in food preparation and service is an asset but not required.
•Ability to operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment (Grills, Deep Fryers, BBQ)
•Strong customer service skills: ability to anticipate customers’ needs and deliver quality service
•Strong decision-making skills: able to make informed decisions quickly and feel empowered to serve the customer better, escalating appropriately when required.
•Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills: to effectively manage a diverse team and collaborate across multiple departments. Ability to provide direction and be authoritative when required
•Experience using digital platforms and systems (MS Office, Dayforce, Sling, Power Point)
•Knowledge of point-of-sale systems, operation of cash registers, and experienced with cash handling procedures is an asset
•Experience managing inventory and supply chain relating to food services is an asset
•Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes weekdays, evening, weekends and holidays.
•Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
•Able to work outside in varying weather conditions, on varied terrain.
•Successful candidates must complete and/or provide a copy of Food Handler Certificate prior to first day of employment
•Successful candidates must complete and/or provide a copy of Smart Serve Certificate
Successful candidates are required to provide a Criminal Record Check (CRC), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required. Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
