Fixed Equipment Inspector
Summary of Position
The Fixed Equipment Inspector is responsible for performing inspections of terminal equipment—such as piping, vessels, tanks, heaters, and structural components—using approved Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) techniques to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves maintaining accurate equipment records, issuing timely repair recommendations, supporting contractor inspectors, and analyzing data through the Inspection Database Management System (IDMS) to guide follow-up actions. The Inspector must be proficient in interpreting technical data, writing inspection reports, and using relevant software tools. Effective problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of safety protocols and the ability to work independently in industrial environments.
Qualifications
•High School diploma or equivalent is required
•Technical degree is preferred
•NDE - Level II Certification is required
•A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) techniques, specifically within industrial inspection processes at an oil and gas terminal or similar industrial facility, is required.
•Familiarity with applicable NDE codes, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory requirements.
•Proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other relevant software applications for data management and reporting.
•Skilled in generating reports, managing inspection data, and performing routine tasks in a digital work environment.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in both individual and team settings.
•Basic knowledge and proper use of hand tools commonly used on construction sites.
•Working knowledge of equipment used in manufacturing plants, including operations, maintenance, and reliability improvement practices.
•Experience with inspection tracking systems and their administration.
•Effective problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and recommend timely corrective actions.
•Committed to workplace safety, with the ability to recognize hazards and implement preventive measures.
•Ability and willingness to work extended hours and/or weekends, when required
•Ability to obtain, or currently possess, a valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
Physical Requirements
•Work is generally in a field setting
•Ability to occasionally lift or move up-to 50 pounds, perform physical activities such as climbing, bending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, crawling, reaching, crouching, push/pull objects, and wear necessary personal protective equipment
•Ability to work outdoors in difficult conditions, including adverse weather conditions
•Ability to enter confined spaces and work at elevated heights, following all safety protocol.
