Responsibilities
• Assist maintenance engineer in the development of preventive, predictive and autonomous maintenance plans for equipment from start-up through their life cycle. This entails specifying and updating frequency for each maintenance task based on normal operation and on the objectives of the maintenance function.
• Thoroughly inspect all aspects of equipment, write work requests for defective equipment, and suggest proper repairs for the maintenance team.
• Ensure that specific activities for inspection, lubrication, cleaning and changing of parts to the equipment are completed in order to timely detect and/or avoid equipment deterioration or shut downs. (Recommendations will be provided by the manufacturer, the supplier and from experienced personnel).
• Provide technical support and follow-up to major and highly specialized maintenance jobs.
• Assure all planned maintenance and operation tasks in the Plant are executed as specified and to follow up on the quality of the jobs.
• Promote ongoing improvement in equipment maintenance and administrative procedures. Work with supervisors to promote ongoing improvement by evaluating opportunities to improve sampling points with response to availability and reliability.
• Assist in training to promote technical development of maintenance department personnel.
• Collect data, analyze maintenance equipment, and investigate repetitive damage, in order to evaluate effectiveness of preventive and predictive procedures. Collaborate with maintenance engineer to enhance these procedures as needed.
• Assist maintenance engineer in performing root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with maintenance engineer for the specification of new equipment in order to insure the reliability of operation and life cycle.
• Work with maintenance engineer and maintenance team to perform modifications on existing equipment in order to enhance performance for reliability and to determine the best cost/benefit relationship.
• Assist the Maintenance Coordinator when planning major shutdown work requests with a high degree of specialization: this includes training and instruction, estimates, materials, special tools, and estimated duration of the job and manpower requirements.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 5 -7 years in a heavy industrial environment; Maintenance training is a plus
• Knowledge of industrial equipment such as Belt Conveyors, Ball Mills and Kilns is helpful. Heavy Mechanical Background and understanding of machinery required. Strong Computer skills are required along with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
• Must be able to spend 75% of the workday in the field in and around industrial equipment. Must be able to lift 50+lbs, stand, walk, climb ladders and or stairs. Have the ability to work in extreme temperatures and in a noisy environment.
