Firmware Engineer Intern
About Us
Daanaa is a Vancouver-based fabless power electronics and semiconductor company on a mission to revolutionize power electronics in applications operating at and below 1,500 Volts (1.5 kV). The Company is in the early commercialization stages of deep tech power conversion and control technologies, offering innovative solutions to OEMs in multiple industries, including solar energy, electric vehicles, and data centers.
Daanaa's value is derived from its transformative Power Transaction Unit (PTU) that consolidates power electronic functions—from bi-directional conversion and amplification to management, transfer, diagnostics, and control—onto a single, high-power-density, high-efficiency, low-profile, scalable, reliable, and safe module. At Daanaa, we are building a world of Energy Untethered
We are growing here at Daanaa and we’re looking to add a Firmware Engineer Intern to join our team to support product firmware through development, testing, and verification. In this role you will be working with our Hardware and Firmware teams, and will learn about how embedded products are designed, built and tested. We are a small team - and you will be a full member of that team, with all the expectations and opportunities that come with that.
Please note this role is from September 2025 - April 2026.
What you’ll be doing:
•Engineer Firmware Solutions: Use your C and Python coding skills to develop innovating solutions for a variety of power electronic applications
•Automated testing: Work with Sr. Engineers to create test infrastructure for new products. This includes test fixtures, developing in-depth knowledge of all required lab equipment, understanding test plans, automating the test set up, and then running the tests themselves.
•Board and System Development: You will develop code to validate that Daanaa’s devices meet specific hardware and behavioural requirements. You will get an opportunity to learn and see in real time how Daanaa’s products come to life!
•Project Monitoring: Work with the entire product team to understand and report on how we are executing against plan. You will learn how engineering development plans are put together, tracked, and how to address challenges along the way.
You should apply if…
•You are currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechatronics, or engineering physics.
•You have experience coding in Python and in embedded C.
•You are a natural problem solver who is excited by being hands-on with electronic circuitry and bringing hardware to life.
•You have strong communication skills. You value building your own understanding and the understanding of others and can communicate effectively within a team.
•You feel great when things are organized! You organize, document, and track things in an efficient and productive manner.
•You have laboratory experience and comfortable working with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators and power sources.
