Blue Engineering and Consulting Company (BLUE), an employee-owned engineering and consulting firm specializing in providing engineering and technical support to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, is looking for an energetic, highly motivated and well-qualified Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in Ellicott City, MD.
The team will look to you for tactical problem-solving for clients and development and review of fire protection deliverables. The ideal candidate will possess a BS or higher degree in fire protection engineering or equivalent. EIT/FE certification in Fire Protection Engineering or a Professional Engineer license a plus.
:
- Perform fire protection evaluations for new and existing hydrocarbon processing facilities, with a strong focus on LNG facilities (occasional travel required).
- Develop flame and gas detection layouts using performance-based design principles.
- Design plant fire water systems and perform hydraulic calculations to specify fire water tanks, fire pumps, and other system components.
- Specify fire extinguishing systems using dry chemicals and clean agents, as well as other special hazard systems.
- Coordinate emergency response and training for plant personnel and local emergency responders.
- Perform hazard modeling for thermal radiation exposure from fires.
- Qualified candidates will have experience/familiarity in most of the following areas:
- Basic understanding of the use and application of fire modeling tools,
- Basic knowledge of building codes, fire codes, NFPA standards, FM Global datasheets, and refinery/industrial API guidelines a plus,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills,
- Excellent organizational skills,
- Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite),
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills, and
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
- Minimum of 7 years related work experience.

In accordance with local law, the following annual salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $120,000-$230,000.
