Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric utility that provides power to rural Wright County and western Hennepin County. The Cooperative has been a corporate citizen to the area since 1937 and currently serves more than 50,000 electric accounts.
The Financial Analyst is responsible for coordinating and assisting with the financial reporting of all business units including the preparation of journal entries, monthly financial reports, and statistical reports for Wright-Hennepin Electric (WH) and Wright-Hennepin Holding business units.
This will be a full-time in-office position located at WH Headquarters in Rockford, MN. Rockford is located on Hwy. 55, 15 minutes west of I-494.
Pay: $70,200-$87,000 annually
Key Responsibilities
75% - Financial Accounting
•Ensure timely and accurate completioncalculation of monthly journal entries, reconciliations, data integrations, and allocations.
•Coordinate the preparation of the monthly financial reports, statistical reports, statements of cashflows and other Board and management reports.
•Manage the preparation and distribution of monthly departmental actual to budget reports.
•Serve as a system expert for financial reporting and budgeting software.
•Analyze monthly financial reports for accuracy, completeness and prepare variance analysis before distributing.
•Assist in the development of the annual budget, planning, and other requirements.
•Perform financial modeling for existing and prospective products and businesses.
•Implement necessary tools and processes to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the Cooperative’s financial records. Conduct internal audits and update internal controls and procedures as necessary.
•Assure financial reports are in compliance with GAAP and Rural Utilities Service (RUS) uniform system of accounts.
•Assist with / prepare annual reports and surveys including but not limited to: DOE, Department of Commerce, Annual Form 7 and 7a.
•Assist with the planning and preparation of special projects such as long-term financial forecasts and loan applications.
•Act as a liaison between the Accounting Department and other departments on day-to-day questions and mini projects.
10% - Annual Audit
•Assist with the coordination of annual audit preparations.
•Coordinate audit schedules and work papers as required.
•Serve as the on-site point of contact for auditors.
5% - Tax
•Assist in preparation and review of accurate and timely sales tax filings
•Assist in preparation and review of property tax calculations and filings
10% - Cash management/Treasury Management
•Back-up cash forecasting process and advisement of cash needs.
•Serve as approver for PosiPay exceptions on a daily basis.
•Assist with monitoring banking transactions on a daily basis to ensure compliance with controls and adequate fund availability.
•Participate in the review process for new vendor setups and system modifications, ensuring data accuracy and fraud prevention.

Requirements:
Education and Experience
•Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Associates degree with experience.
•5+ years of experience in an accounting role
Licenses/Certificates
CPA Certificate preferred*

•Knowledge of all generally accepted accounting principles
•Knowledge of accounting for electric utility operations

•Experience using general ledgers, spreadsheets, word processing, reporting, and e-mail
