General Ledger Management:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
- Prepare journal entries for various transactions and adjustments.
- Complete month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Process accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoice verification, coding, and payment processing.
- Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding balances, and ensure timely collections.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Monitor and record bank transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting principles, policies, and procedures, with a particular focus on government contracting regulations such as FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement), and CAS (Cost Accounting Standards).
- Collaborate with the contract management team to maintain accurate contract billing and compliance records.
- Assist in internal and external audits related to government contracts, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Support financial analysis efforts by providing relevant data and reports to aid decision-making processes.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, particularly those related to government contracting compliance.
- Recommend and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations for government contracts.
- Provide T720 monthly reports to Dearmann for excise tax reporting and compliance. Reconcile and sign off on ExStars excise tax reports prior to monthly filings.
- Provide BDO with quarterly and annual trial balances/financial statements for tax reporting and compliance.
- Facilitate estimated federal and state tax payments, as needed.
- Liaise with Cerberus tax on tax deliverables, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience, with a proven track record in government contracting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Thorough knowledge of government contracting regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and CAS.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
