The Field Technician, Cut Bank Midstream is primarily responsible for the safe operation of Company pipeline assets located in and around the geographic area, including maintaining pipeline right of way and measurement work. Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Typical working conditions include outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration, and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces. Field Technicians must follow safe work practices including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

What You’ll Do

Maintain Pipeline Right of Way; maintain pipeline markers and signs.

Conduct emergency one-calls, line locates, and onsite excavation third party.

Understand the methods of measurements used for custody transfer.

Understand most common forms of measurement including the use of positive displacement meters, mass flow meters, turbine meters, and solids handling measurement.

Interface with other internal, external, and third-party industry measurement-related contacts/resources.

Work closely with the Loss Control group on issues that relate to measurement.

Perform monthly Pipeline gain/loss analysis; investigate instances of mismeasurement; compute adjustments and negotiate with other companies when necessary to settle differences in adjusted volumes.

Provide input/suggestions into development of Phillips 66 Pipeline measurement standards to promote measurement uniformity and compliance with API measurement standards while keeping abreast of measurement trends and technology advances.

Review/audit metering systems to ensure end-to-end integrity and accuracy; review proving factors, flow computer and LC computations, data transmission, SCADA computations.

Schedule calibrations, inspections, audits, and other related activities with facility supervisors and other third parties.

Participate as witness to all company and third-party prover water draws.

Perform troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, calibrations, and replacement of equipment as necessary.

Inspect and test Pressure Regulating Systems.

Install threaded pipe and fittings.

Install process tubing and fittings.

Inspect and repair electrical and hydraulic valve actuators.

Inspect and evaluate buried pipe.

Launch and receive pigging tools.

Manage crude storage tank inventories and mixer repairs as necessary

Monitor installation of pipeline crossings.

Inspect, operate, and maintain valves.

Respond to emergencies and assist in maintaining emergency equipment.

Perform environmental, company, and regulatory checks as necessary.

Eliminate, contain, and report any and all product and/or crude leaks, seeps, and spills.

What You’ll Bring – Required Qualifications

Legally authorized to work in the United States

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Valid driver's license

Current passport or ability to attain one for work on the Canadian border

Willingness and ability to perform and comply with following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

To climb up to 50 feet using both inclined and vertical steps/ladders

To lift up to 50 pounds

To exert push force of up to 100 lbs and pull force of up to 200 lbs

To bend, kneel, knee stand and squat up to 30 minutes at a time

To sit and stand for prolonged periods over 2 hours at a time according to job demands

To work outside in harsh weather conditions

To work alone a high percentage of the time

To travel up to 15% of the time

To respond to emergency calls as needed

To work overtime on an as-needed basis

To work with chemicals and bases

To wear personal protective equipment (such as fire-retardant clothing, steel-toe shoes, ear, and eye protection)

To maintain your face so that a respirator / face mask can seal properly (i.e. to be clean shaven of facial hair)

To perform emergency response duties.

To work with crude oil under high pressure and heat

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred Qualifications

2 or more years of oil and gas work experience

Prior pipeline work experience

Compensation Range

Base salary of $70,200 to $114,400, 7.5% annual cash bonus target, 8% 401k match and Cash Balance Account pension

Midstream

The Phillips 66 Midstream business is a safe, reliable, and trusted provider for the movement, storage, gathering, and processing of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 70,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities.
