The Field Sales Representative for Inspection Services candidate must live either in Northeast Ohio or Colorado. If located in Ohio, you must have the ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time to the West Coast and be in the corporate office near Cleveland when not traveling for work. If living in Colorado, you must maintain a home office with the ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time.
As a Field Sales Representative for Inspection Services, you will be responsible for selling the organization's technical services and products to prospective clients by serving as the main point of contact with PLP’s independent sales representative network. Your position will focus on sales in the western US. You will work closely with our reps to understand the customer’s needs and then propose solutions that meet those needs. Your technical knowledge will be essential in explaining the benefits of the product or service to prospective customers and closing sales. This position requires technical sales experience and some knowledge of the industry’s services, product applications, marketing techniques, and requirements.
- Work closely with PLP Regional Sales Managers to coordinate sales strategies between business segments.
- Work closely with our network of independent sales representatives to identify, target, present, and close sales opportunities.
- Ensure independent sales representatives develop and maintain a deep understanding of our services.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with our independent sales representatives to enhance sales performance and collaboration.
- Coordinate with sales representatives to identify purchasing influencers and facilitate effective sales calls, supporting reps during calls and leading key client engagements as needed.
- Lead and/or support independent sales representatives in sales calls and delivery of technical presentations to potential and existing customers, showcasing the features and benefits of our services.
- Actively participate in industry networking through a wide range of events, activities, and social media.
- Participate in trade shows, including lead retrieval, follow-up, and team coordination.
- Ensure timely resolution of customer complaints regarding services while providing guidance and communication to PLP Regional Sales Managers and our independent sales representatives.
- Collaborate with the team to investigate new industry segments or business use case opportunities, contributing insights from sales interactions.
- Support the identification and investigation of new product and service opportunities with customers, leveraging insights from customer interactions.
- Effectively monitors travel and entertainment expenses.
- Provide a sales forecast on a regular basis.
- Submit thorough trip reports and territory updates
- Stay informed on industry trends, marketing activities, and competitors, and communicate insights to the team and leadership.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Sales courses or a college degree are desired
- 5+ years in a technical or “service” sales role. Preferably with some experience managing outside sales/service teams.- Previous successful technical sales experience, and/or inspection experience in the power utility industry, preferred.
- Proven experience in technical sales, with a track record of achieving sales targets.
- Strong technical background, with the ability to understand and explain technical concepts to customers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with customers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
- Ability to use a computer and applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- You must possess a valid driver's license.
- You must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
