York Water is seeking a Field Customer Service Representative to support our Customer Service and Meter Reading Departments through a hybrid role that combines in-office responsibilities with hands-on fieldwork. What You’ll Do:

As a Field Customer Service Representative, you will:

- Serve as a point of contact for customers in person, over the phone, and via email regarding service issues, billing inquiries, unusual water usage, and water quality concerns.

- Process requests for new service, turn-ons, turn-offs, and account changes in accordance with PA Public Utility Commission (PUC) regulations and company policy.

- Prepare and post delinquent notices, complete shut-offs and turn-ons for non-payment, and assist in collection efforts.

- Read meters, respond to field orders, and investigate customer complaints related to service, leaks, or meter issues.

- Prepare documentation for service applications, complaint responses, payment agreements, and regulatory compliance.

- Respond to service-related emails and maintain accurate customer records.

- Demonstrate working knowledge of the Company’s tariff and PA PUC rules and regulations.

- Navigate York County roadways efficiently and locate service addresses using maps and company tools.

- Provide professional, courteous service in all customer interactions—whether in the office or in the field.

What We’re Looking For:

Education & Experience:

- Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field preferred.

- Prior customer service experience required; field or utility-related experience is a plus.

Communication Skills:

- Clear and professional verbal and written communication.

- Bilingual skills preferred but not required.

Technical Skills:

- Ability to learn and work with customer service systems, mapping tools, and handheld field equipment.

- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and utility billing is helpful.

Licenses & Certifications:

- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license required.

Other Requirements:

- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

- Comfortable working independently in the field and collaborating with office teams.

- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
