Job Title: Field Safety Engineer
Location: Mesa, AZ
Pay: $50,000 - $65,000/annually
Position Overview:
Ensure all company safety protocols are adhered to and employee certifications remain current. This role is split between fieldwork and office responsibilities, requiring strong communication skills, knowledge of OSHA and local safety standards, and hands-on safety inspection experience.
Key Responsibilities:
•Conduct regular safety inspections on job sites to ensure compliance with safety protocols, especially for trenching, confined space entry, and utility locating.
•Assist with the development, implementation, and improvement of company safety policies and procedures.
•Maintain and track employee safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, Confined Space, First Aid/CPR, Flagger).
•Lead or assist in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
•Investigate incidents and near misses; prepare thorough reports with corrective actions.
•Support onboarding process with safety orientations and training verification.
•Maintain safety logs, inspection records, and incident reports.
•Collaborate with site supervisors to implement site-specific safety plans.
•Stay up to date with OSHA regulations, local/state compliance standards, and industry best practices.
Work Environment:
•Field work includes exposure to varying weather conditions and construction sites.
•Office work includes computer use, documentation, and planning.
•Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and enter confined spaces (with PPE).
•Minimum 2 years of safety experience in underground utilities, construction, or a related industry.
•Knowledge of OSHA regulations, particularly those applicable to excavation, trenching, and confined spaces.
•Valid driver's license and ability to travel between job sites.
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•OSHA 30 Certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
•CPR/First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain).
•Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
