SUMMARY

Five Star Energy Services, LLC is seeking a Field Inspector for Underground Fiber. This individual is responsible for on-site inspection and quality assurance of underground fiber optic construction projects. This role ensures all work complies with design specifications, safety regulations, and local, state and federal standards. This position requires the ability to travel to multiple job sites, with some overnight travel as necessary and the candidate must posses a valid driver's license.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform daily inspections of underground fiber installation, including plowing, trenching, boring, conduit placement, handholes, and fiber optic cable installation.

- Ensure contractors follow project plans, specifications, safety protocols, and permit requirements.

- Document field activities through detailed reports, photos, and inspection logs.

- Identify and report deficiencies or deviations from plans and ensure timely correction.

- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, engineers, and utility companies to resolve field issues.

- Verify location of existing utilities using as-built plans and locate services.

- Assist with pre-constructions site walks and post-constructions closeouts.

- Monitor traffic control and site safety measures to ensure compliance.

- Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections and communications.

- Use GPS or GIS tools to capture field date when needed.

REQUIREMENTS

- High School diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in construction management, telecommunications, or a related field preferred.

- 2+ years of experience in underground utility or fiber construction inspection.

- Strong knowledge of underground utility construction techniques (trenching, boring, directional drilling).

- Familiarity with fiber optic network components and installation practices.

- Working knowledge of local codes, OHSA safety regulations and permitting requirements.

- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, utility maps, and specifications.

- Proficiency with computers and basic field technology (smartphone, GPS, inspection apps).

- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel

Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active constructions sites.

Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting.

May involve driving between multiple job sites during the day and could require overnight stays.
