Ferrous Shear Operator/Work Cell Lead

Principal Objective of Position:

Operating the control tower pulpit of a 1,000-ton shear and leading a 4–5-member group that work to shear, sort, separate, and inspect scrap metal into mill ready grades of steel product.

+ Communicating with Crane Operators who are feeding the shear + Guide and direct the downstream personnel who sort what you have processed through the shear + Monitor material as it is feed in and through the shear for quality and safety

Work Environment:

The work environment is inside when the shear is in operation, but outside elements are required for preventative maintenance and material inspections. When the shear cell is not operating, many of the assignments which you would be responsible for would be outside work. You would be working closely with your supervisor on a variety of initiatives to maintain the shear work cell and to affect other aspects of the Ferrous yard with your team for the betterment of the overall Ferrous yard.
