JOB PURPOSE
The Evaluation Analyst will guide high-impact evaluations of investment opportunities of mining and exploration projects, including the evaluation of greenfield, brownfield, developing and producing assets. This role is critical to shaping the long-term strategic direction of the company through in-depth economic assessments, risk analysis, and portfolio optimization across global mining operations.
The role works closely with multidisciplinary teams—geology, engineering, finance, ESG, and executive leadership—to develop robust business cases, build valuation models, and deliver strategic recommendations for project advancement, acquisition, divestment, and joint ventures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Strategic Asset Evaluation: Drive infrastructure and project evaluations in collaboration with the technical team. Complete economic evaluation of exploration, development, and production-stage assets, ensuring alignment with corporate growth objectives.
•Financial Modeling & Valuation: Build and review complex financial models (DCF, IRR, NPV, capital ratio, etc..) for internal projects and external opportunities with a focus on infrastructure capital cost estimates and alternate scenario analysis.
•Due Diligence: Support M&A and JV activities by coordinating due diligence, including capital and operating cost review, ESG risks, legal agreements, and financial performance.
•Stakeholder Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with technical experts, operational leaders, and finance teams to ensure evaluation assumptions are credible and consensus-driven.
•Market & Risk Analysis: Monitor industry trends, commodity markets, and track target companies to inform investment decisions and risk mitigation strategies.
•Executive and Disclosure Reporting: Develop and present strategic evaluation reports and investment cases to senior leadership as required. Support technical summaries as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
•Minimum 8–10 years of experience in the mining sector, including roles in project evaluation, corporate strategy, M&A, or technical consulting.
•Strong understanding of mineral project economics, mine planning, mineral processing and resource estimation.
•Expertise in financial modeling, strategic analysis, and project valuation tools.
•Experience working on cross-border or multi-commodity assets preferred.
•Excellent communication and presentation skills.
•Ability to manage multiple projects and lead cross-functional teams under tight timelines.
Education
•Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Finance or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred)
