Estimator

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Internal Business Development Kurt De Sutter, Champ Industries is seeking to add a highly dedicated, positive and motivated estimator to join our busy metal manufacturing team at our Canadian manufacturing facility located at 360 Dawson Road, Winnipeg.

While demonstrating a commitment to quality, efficiency, accuracy, sales and growth, this individual will produce estimates and quotations in a timely manner in support of the Sales and Business Development activities.

The is a Monday to Friday role with a start time of 07:00 and finish time of 15:30.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Evaluates request for quotations and propose changes if necessary with Customer

· Develop estimates encompassing all cost components

· Acquire supplier / sub-contractor quotations

· Produce estimates and quotations in a timely fashion

· Facilitate resolution of discrepancies both externally and internally within the shop

· Maintain costing and estimating databases

· Coordinates new product Introduction and 1st articling

Working Relationships

· Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients

­ Respond to customers within the same day

· Ability to maintain excellent relationships with sub-contractors

­ Understand limits and capabilities

· Maintain great relationships with a customer centric focus by interacting with internal stakeholders

­ Includes Production, Customer Service and Quality

· Support purchasing when required (vacation back-up / overflow work)

­ Material purchases

­ Update and maintenance of material library

· Assist with special projects as required

Environmental Conditions

· Typical fabrication environment; foot, eye and ear protection required on the shop floor, ‘business casual’ in the offices

Qualifications

· Ability to read and understand AutoCAD drawings to effectively price components

· Ability to navigate within the Microsoft office suite of products

­ Excel, Word

· Ability to easily convert between Metric and Imperial measurements

· Understands profit, margin and mark-up within the estimator’s direct influence when pricing

· Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Effectively manages time and tasks in a sometimes noisy & disruptive work environment.

· Works well in a team environment
