The Estimator is responsible for preparing and coordinating cost estimates for service-oriented projects such as pipeline tapping, valve insertion, hot tapping, pipeline repair, and emergency services. This role involves close collaboration with sales and operations as it pertains to clients, project managers, technicians, and internal departments to ensure accurate scope development, pricing, and timely proposal delivery. The ideal candidate understands the pace and detail required in service work and can operate with a high degree of responsiveness and independence.
- Review service requests, site information, and technical requirements to develop accurate estimates for labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and related costs.
- Coordinate directly with clients, technicians, and operations team to gather scope clarification and field input.
- Prepare and submit timely service proposals in alignment with customer deadlines and company margins.
- Utilize historical cost data, vendor quotes, and internal tools to support pricing strategies.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, pricing structures, and equipment capabilities.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, assisting with client follow-ups, and participating in customer calls when needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards throughout estimating and proposal development.- 3+ years of experience estimating in service-oriented construction (e.g., mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, pipeline services, or related field).
- Working knowledge of pipe materials, valves, fittings, and civil utility systems preferred.
- Experience in rapid estimating cycles and responsive service work.
- Familiarity with construction documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Strong Excel and estimating software skills required.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- High school diploma required, associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
- Attention to detail with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong math and analytical reasoning.
- Ability to interpret scopes of work, drawings, and field conditions.
- Customer-service orientation and ability to represent Rangeline professionally in written and verbal communication.
