JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking experienced and motivated Equipment Technician Supervisors to lead and coordinate personnel and oversee equipment maintenance operations within the Wafer Equipment Department. These roles are essential to ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive manufacturing process that meets operational goals and customer requirements. Shift Supervisors are responsible for directing a team of hourly technicians, providing daily leadership, guidance, and accountability to ensure that both personnel and equipment perform at peak efficiency. You will oversee shift operations, enforce safety standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives across your assigned shift. To succeed in this role, you must be a proactive problem-solver with strong leadership and technical skills. You should be capable of balancing multiple priorities, making timely decisions, and leading your team to meet maintenance schedules and equipment performance targets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment Oversight & Maintenance Support•Monitor the condition and performance of manufacturing equipment during assigned shifts, ensuring high equipment availability and minimal unplanned downtime.
•Coordinate and verify completion of preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and support corrective maintenance activities.
•Assist in diagnosing equipment malfunctions, supporting on-shift troubleshooting efforts and escalating to Engineering support when needed.
•Maintain accurate documentation, including maintenance logs, downtime tracking, and equipment status reports.
•Train and coach technicians on equipment procedures, safe practices, and technical troubleshooting.
•Enforce proper use of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and adherence to safety protocols during equipment servicing.
•Support the development and continuous improvement of maintenance standards, technical documentation, and training materials.
•Participate in equipment commissioning, process validation, and improvement initiatives.
Technician Supervision & Shift-Level Leadership
•Directly supervise hourly equipment technicians on your assigned shift, ensuring adequate shift coverage and task execution.
•Track attendance, punctuality, and timecard accuracy for assigned team members.
•Manage technician scheduling, call-ins, and shift coverage in coordination with department leadership.
•Address performance issues, tardiness, absences, and other disciplinary concerns in accordance with company policy.
•Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and development plans for team members.
•Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the shift.
•Serve as a primary point of contact for equipment-related issues on shift and communicate effectively with other departments and leadership.
Qualifications and Skills
•High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or technical degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field strongly preferred.
•3+ years of experience working in a maintenance, equipment, or technical role within a manufacturing environment.
•2+ years of experience in leadership, lead technician, or supervisory capacity.
•Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems, troubleshooting methods, and equipment reliability principles.
•Familiarity with LOTO procedures, workplace safety standards, and OSHA/EHS compliance.
•Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
•Proficient in using CMMS or digital maintenance tracking systems.
•Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under minimal supervision.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to lead a team, document issues clearly, and interact professionally across departments.
•Comfortable working non-standard shifts, including nights, weekends, or rotating schedules based on production demands.
Preferred Qualifications
•Associate degree or higher in a technical field (e.g., Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering).
•Experience supervising hourly technicians in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
•Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays is required.
•Prior hands-on experience with semiconductors, solar, or other high-tech manufacturing equipment.
•Experience authoring or maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs), troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
•Working knowledge of PLC systems, automation tools, or control systems.
•Familiarity with Korean- or Chinese-made equipment a plus.
•Bilingual skills (e.g., Korean, Spanish, Chinese) are a plus in multicultural team settings.
•Certified in OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or related safety programs.
