DESCRIPTION
The Equipment Operator/Assembly Technician is responsible for operating various types of lift and material handling equipment—including forklifts, telehandlers, and other warehouse machinery—to move, stage, and organize materials in the yard and to assist with loading and unloading trucks. When not operating equipment, this position supports the wall panel assembly process and other general shop duties. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
•Operate forklifts, telehandlers, and other material handling equipment to move and organize steel stud wall panels and materials.
•Safely load and unload trucks in the yard and shop environment.
•Stage materials for production and shipping in an organized and efficient manner.
•Perform daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance issues.
•Assist in the assembly of wall panels when not engaged in equipment operation.
•Ensure adherence to all company safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
•Maintain clean and organized work areas, including the yard and assembly zones.
•Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet production and delivery deadlines.
•Communicate clearly with team leads regarding material needs, equipment usage, and any issues that arise.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS
•Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
•Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude
•Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, or similar equipment (certification preferred or willingness to obtain)
•Ability to follow safety standards and use proper lifting techniques
•Must be able to routinely lift and maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds
•Must be able to occasionally lift and maneuver 100+ pounds using team lifts or equipment
•Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, twist, climb, reach, and operate equipment for extended periods
•Must have reliable transportation and be punctual for shift work
•Must be dependable, organized, and able to follow verbal and written instructions
•Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a production environment
•Ability to read and interpret layout prints and basic shop drawings
•General carpentry or construction skills are a plus
•Basic proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in steel or panel assembly
