POSITION SUMMARY
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials (ie harvest product from ponds and haul to slurry pit). You will also collaborate with coworkers to ensure that projects are completed accurately. You will be required to conduct your duties in a safe, diligent manner at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Observe all OSHA and Intrepid’s safety rules and policies at all times
•Perform pre-shift inspections to ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently, and report any safety hazards to appropriate personnel
•Must be willing to work in extreme weather conditions
•Ability to read and understand the GPS system
•Preform pond repair and maintenance as needed
•Perform routine maintenance and check fluid levels
•Capacity to provide and follow instructions
•Determine if work area is safe
•Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Valid Driver’s license with a good driving record
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Must be willing to work rotating shifts, overtime, and callouts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Equipment hauling experience
•Experience operating the following equipment:
+ Dozer
+ Grader
+ Excavator
+ Backhoe
+ Forklift
+ Front End Loader
+ Scraper/Harvester
•Previous experience, 1 year, working in a manufacturing/construction environment
•Have a positive attitude when working and communicating with others
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
•Ability to operate and control heavy equipment to complete tasks at the construction site
•Ability to operate front-end loader, grader, scraper, and other heavy equipment
•Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
•Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed outdoors in a non-temperature controlled environment. The employee:
•Is regularly required to lift heavy objects (50lbs <=) and work in confined spaces
•May have to work at heights in a non-temperature-controlled environment and unpredictable weather conditions
•Is regularly exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
•Is required to always wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE)
•Will frequently be standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching and grasping
•Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders, work at heights on occasion, and perceive color differences
SCHEDULE
•A 40 hour a week work schedule with rotating shifts will be required with callouts and overtime as part of the job
