The Equipment Maintenance Tech is a full-time role based out of the Red Deer facility reporting to the President and is responsible for overseeing the business and facilities maintenance and special process improvement projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient, reliable, and cost-effective operation of equipment maintenance activities across the organization.
The successful candidate will leverage their maintenance experience to lead an implementation of minor maintenance processes, improving asset reliability, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. In addition, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring the facilities equipment is operation. This is a hands on position which you will be responsible for repairing and managing 3rd party contactors as required.
This role requires strong leadership skills, a strategic mindset, and a hands-on approach to operational management. The Equipment Maintenance Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations to ensure alignment with organizational goals and deliver high-quality maintenance support.
- Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
- Adjusting machinery and repairing and/or replacing defective parts
- Reading and interpreting diagrams and schematic drawings, blueprints, and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete assigned projects
- Participating in the preventative maintenance program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machines
- Operating machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machineries
- Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts (often within a fraction of a millimeter tolerance).
- Service and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and programmable logic controls
- May do some tack welding and fabrication as well as maintain inventory of replacement parts
- Ensuring operating safety devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications, and installations
- Keeping detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
- Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on machineries
- May operate mobile equipment such as front-end loaders, forklifts, skid-steer loaders, man lifts and overhead cranes
- Performs area housekeeping duties and may perform work area and safety audits
- Monitor and document testing in log book
- Performs pre and post shift inspections and reports condition of plant for items needing repair
