The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing items such as machinery, vehicles, physical structures, pipes, and electrical systems in a safe and productive manner at Corrosion Materials (CMI).
As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Maintenance Technician. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment according to the manufacturer’s specifications; dismantle defective items and install new or repaired parts.
- Perform maintenance service repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, electrical, fabrication, welding, and vehicle servicing.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers and wiring and electrical and electronics components of machinery and equipment.
- Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance according to the schedule in order to meet production demand.
- Establish critical parts and approved vendor lists.
- Work with department supervisors to implement best maintenance practices in support of efficiency and quality within each department.
- Coordinate and work with contractor workers or vendors performing repairs and/or preventative maintenance on CM property.
- Follow Hazardous Chemicals policies.
- Operate cranes and forklift trucks safely and properly.
- Use proper tie off to safety line while working above floor level.
- Coordinate supply of all utility services to the CM-Baker facility.
- Follow all safety procedures.
- Apply all lock-out/tag-out procedures during repairs.
- Demonstrate initiative and assist in collaborating on special projects.
- Adhere to all CMI’s safety rules, regulations, and quality standards.
- Adhere to all CMI’s handbook policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years or more of warehouse maintenance experience
- Strong work ethic; self-motivated
- Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to measure using different tools
- Ability to effectively multi-task
- Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills
- Computer skills necessary
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree
- Three or more years of experience in electrical repairs
- Five or more years of warehouse maintenance experience
