JOB SUMMARY:
To provide overall support for site remediation activities including compliance with State and Federal Regulation. Ensure that all control, monitoring, record keeping, and reporting requirements related to the area of responsibility are satisfied. Maintains internal relationships with refinery personnel and establishes external relationships with regulatory representatives. Interact with agencies, manages consulting firms and contractors.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In a Petroleum Refinery setting serve as the primary consultant on the full range of remediation activities occurring at the site including running day to day operation and maintenance activities for groundwater and hydrocarbon recovery systems, developing strategies for remedial investigation and action, remedial action permit development, develop financial assurance mechanisms and environmental reserves.
- Serve as project manager and manage multiple nested contractors in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the refinery’s groundwater and hydrocarbon recovery systems.
- Interface with regulatory bodies as needed, including federal, state and/or local agencies.
- A Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering is preferred
- Professional Engineers (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) credentials are preferred.
- Experience with New Jersey remediation regulations including the Site Remediation Reform Act, Administrative Requirements for the Remediation of Contaminated Sites and New Jerseys Licensed Site Remediation Professional program is preferred.
- Experience with the clean-up requirements under the Toxic Substance Control Act is preferred.
- Good project management skills are required.
- Five to ten years of relevant environmental, refining, and remediation experience is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations is required. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals is required.
- Must be proficient with basic office systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work on multiple competing priorities with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong documentation skills.
- Position involves rotational on-call responsibilities.
The salary range for this position is $88,424.81- $145,780.03. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases.
