Position Summary
At PROENERGY, we emphasize a ONE-TEAM approach where our Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Start-Up, Document Controls, and Operations teams work seamlessly for our clients as a solutions provider for the power industry. We seek a Engineering Project Controls Manager that has a passion for ownership and pride in the quality of our deliverables. The manager will oversee engineering project controls and schedules. The project controls manager will have the expertise to execute our project work but will have heavy influence in writing and maintaining our standards, guidelines, and procedures. This role will directly report to the VP of PowerFLX Engineering as we continue to build our in-house EPC engineering team. You will need to work collaboratively with our integrated EPC team along with our clients to execute and provide world class, quality focused deliverables for our construction team. Your ability to adapt and be flexible will be invaluable as you coordinate multiple jobs, develop guidelines and procedures, and provide engineering oversight to our subsidiaries. As we lead the transition from reliance on third party engineers to building and managing a fully functional in-house engineering team your expertise and technical knowledge will greatly impact the business planning to add engineering quality standards and developing our own project cost controls, unit rates, and schedule deliverables. Helping to develop KPIs and execute planning sessions for projects will also be a key focus for the engineering project controls manager. This position will be in the office in Leawood, KS as we build our culture in person.
Position Responsibilities
•Manage project controls and schedule for engineering on multiple projects
•Complete all work in compliance with project specific certified Earned Value Management System.
•Analyze project reporting and provide correct actions to mitigate project risk.
•Integrate cost and schedule data/baseline with the company’s enterprise system, to facilitate Project's financial goals, or oversee this effort.
•Lead effort for tracking budget, project costs, labor hours, schedule updates, installed quantities, and progress measurements related to engineering for work to include direct hire and subcontracted work.
•Maintain the planning/scheduling updates, applying engineering, procurement, and construction terminology, concepts, and relationships. Develop and maintain critical path logic networks and bar charts.
•Analyze, evaluate, and forecast current estimate status against an established baseline schedule. Assess the impacts of design or construction changes and schedule delays. Report schedule status to all levels of project and company management as well as to the Client.
•Prepare reports, graphs, and charts, to communicate project status.
•Support the Project team, with the change control management process. Support project with pricing and determining schedule impact of change orders.
•Perform critical path and time impact analysis to document current conditions and change management on the project.
•Analyze work progress and craft productivity reports, use this analyze to update project forecast.and templating of our PowerFLX work.
•Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and a means to manage KPI tracking and reporting.
•Stay up to date with the latest technology and industry practices and finds practical applications.
•Develop and execute a communications plan, ensuring project team members are informed of strategy, shared goals, policies, practices and programs.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, accounting, finance, or other associated degree.
•Six (6) years of experience related work experience
•Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, perform, review, and present planning and scheduling products. This includes the development of the products independently with minimal supervision using a high level of professional judgment and knowledge related to engineering, procurement, and construction practices.
•Previous Earned Value Management System experience
•Strong Knowledge of Primavera P6 with a strong understanding of scheduling fundamentals
•Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
•Proficient with reporting tools such as Power BI, Excel etc.
•Previous experience managing project controls teams.
•Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.
•Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
•Good negotiation, presentation and persuasion skills. Experienced in communicating ideas, winning approval, and reaching resolutions with a variety of audiences
•Proactively provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes
•Actively manages project changes directly with the Client with supervision from the Project Manager
•Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
•Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
Desired Qualifications
•Aconex or Procore Document Controls software knowledge
•Clear understanding of construction and constructability practices & principles
•Working knowledge of procurement and contract administration
•Working knowledge of processes, procedures for project controls and estimating
•Advanced knowledge of technical aspects of the proposal and estimate process
•Intermediate business and financial acumen
•Owner or Client engineering background
