Reports to: Process Engineer and Operations & Maintenance Supervisor
Job Summary: This position will assist the Process Engineer and Operations & Maintenance Supervisor with various engineering and operations projects throughout the Water Treatment Plant (WTP)
- Assist Process Engineer with INFOR (enterprise asset management system) data gathering, entry, and reporting.
- Assist Process Engineer with HACH WIMS (laboratory and plant operations database) data gathering, entry, and reporting.
- Assist Process Engineer with process optimization and help track effectiveness of efforts through various investigation techniques.
- Assist Process Engineer with designing and overseeing small projects completed by Contractors and internal maintenance staff.
- Assist with construction observation for large-scale capital projects being conducted onsite.
- Work with operations staff and O&M Supervisor to review and troubleshoot processes, research new equipment, and develop Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct research on equipment and gather quotes to assist with budgeting process.
- Assist maintenance and operations staff with water sample collection, laboratory work, and maintenance projects as assigned.
- Learn the basics of WTP operation to identify areas for improvements.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree Program for Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bio Systems Engineering, or similar field.
- Preferably Junior or Senior level. Sophomores may be considered depending on experience/ability.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent knowledge and experience in the use of computer applications, including basic word processing and spreadsheet skills.
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
- Must maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
- Must be 18 years old.
- Work includes proximity to environmental hazard associated with electrical, mechanical, and/or power equipment.
- Work includes occasional exposure to fumes, odors, dust, dirt, and/or contact with chemicals or toxins.
