A Day in the Life of the Engineering Director

As an Engineering Director, you will mentor individuals and project teams, design and implement multimodal transportation projects, and oversee project performance to ensure our work is consistently top quality. Fostering a positive culture and healthy morale while maintaining a productive work environment is an integral component of this role.

In an industry that is constantly changing, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering creative solutions to challenging projects. Along with other leadership in California and the West, you will develop and implement marketing, business development, and growth strategies for the region. You’ll help identify key pursuits, form client outreach strategies, and build relationships in Northern California. Your knowledge of the Bay Area and surrounding areas, local government authorities, decision-makers, advocates, and local standards and procedures will be key to your success.

We are targeting a salary range of $195,000 to $235,000 for this position. Candidates with more years of experience or exceptional qualifications may fall into a different pay range.

Work Schedule for an Engineering Director:

This full-time position typically works a hybrid schedule of 40 hours a week, with the full team in the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The Oakland office of Toole Design is conveniently located in downtown Oakland, just blocks from Lake Merritt and the 19th Street BART Stations. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.
