Engineer in Training (EIT) - Transmission Lines

About Us:

Maskwa High Voltage, now ENTRUST Canada, is an engineering consulting firm with offices in Calgary and Regina that provides design and engineering services to the electric power delivery industry. Our expertise includes all aspects of Transmission, Substation and Distribution systems for voltages ranging from 4160V to 500kV.

Hybrid Work Environment4 days a week in office in Calgary OR Regina, 1 day a week from home.

Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer in training or a Design Technologist to join our team in Calgary. We offer a dynamic work environment with a highly experienced technical team, where you will be offered guidance and hands on training and continuously challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process.

Responsibilities:

- Develop new designs by applying knowledge of utility electrical systems and their operation

- Review designs against applicable industry codes and standards as well as internal MHV standards.

- Apply engineering calculations to various project challenges to develop complete and competent designs

- Complete engineering calculations for transmission and distribution lines.

- Use a variety of tools and software in design such as PLS-CADD, ETAP, CDEGS etc.

- Prepare estimates, material take offs, scopes of work, survey packages and design packages.

- Assist in the preparation of engineering reports.

- Prepare design packages for construction

- Conduct site visits for field reconnaissance during the project design phase and field inspections during the project construction phase

Qualifications:

- Technical college diploma (Electrical) or a university degree in Electrical Engineering

- Ability to work in design teams and take the initiative to learn the position

- Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite and CAD drafting tool such as Microstation and AutoCAD.

- Previous design experience with substation, transmission or distribution lines - Previous experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, CDEGS or PLS-CADD software
