We are hiring two (2) Full-Time Permanent Engineer in In Training positions working out of Edmonton, AB.
As an Engineer in Training (EIT), Distribution, you will be responsible for overhead and underground distribution design, and act as a liaison with internal and external customers. You will work closely with Asset Management, System Planning, Project Management and Field Operations. Additionally, you have accountability for the interpretation of engineering designs, standards and specifications that you have prepared.
You will be responsible for delivering power distribution designs that meet utility codes and standards, as well as established deadlines. This includes analyzing, identifying, and addressing issues that impact your designs. We are looking for the following behavioral attributes;

What you’d be responsible for
•Completing distribution designs, ordering materials, as well as field inspection under the direct supervision of a Stamping Engineer.
•Liaising with EDTI’s internal and external stakeholders in the timely execution of projects.
•Developing, implementing and reviewing engineering processes to ensure compliance with policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensuring mitigation of risks.
•Reviewing engineering processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensuring mitigation of risks.
•Recommending new approaches to designs, recognizing and encouraging continuous improvement throughout the design team.
•Ensuring the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics
•Performing and reviewing electrical and civil calculations including pulling calculations, clearances due to sag and tension of aerial wires, pole strength calculations and transformer sizing.
What’s required to be successful
•A degree in Engineering (Electrical or Civil) from a recognized post-secondary institute is required.
•Registered EIT with APEGA.
•1-3 years of experience working in the engineering field.
•Basic knowledge and understanding of electric power systems.
•Demonstrated ability to:
+ Work effectively as part of a larger team within a dynamic environment.
+ Develop, nurture and manage external and internal relationships.
•High level of competency with computer software. In particular: Microsoft Office
