The engineer - renewables provides technical work in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of additions, changes or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company's renewable units. The engineer - renewables may participate in the direction of work for wind engineer, contractors and field personnel.
Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company's renewable units. Services include working with IT, networking groups to manage hardware and software assets for OEM/MidAmerican site teams during commissioning and/or operations phase, Tasks related to NERC/FERC compliance, performance reports and accuracy validation. (45%)
Provide engineering assistance to other departments. Account management, implementing cybersecurity tools, patching (20%)
Provide technical project management for certain phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (15%)
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
One-three years of industry experience as a practicing engineer required for the engineer 2 role.
Five years of industry experience as a practicing engineer and must be a licensed PE required for the senior role. If no PE license then must have eight or more years as a practicing engineer.
Fifteen years of successful industry experience as a practicing engineer with experience performing highly technical work of a specialized nature for the principal engineer role.
Experience preferably in power generation or renewable energy.
High level of technical knowledge, judgment and capability in the engineering discipline. Broad analytical skills. Advanced project management skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Leadership skills to provide guidance, direction, orientation and instruction. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds.
