Primary Purpose
To be responsible for the installation, assembly, and overhaul of plant production equipment along with troubleshooting and repair of related electrical and electronics faults. The position is expected to complete the scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance, calibration tasks, PLC and HMI troubleshooting, and maintain associated records through interaction with the MP2 maintenance management system (CMMS) planner.
Essential Functions
1. Assemble various production equipment and complete installation utilizing equipment layout plans.
2. Complete scheduled and unscheduled calibrations and maintenance tasks, and maintain records compliant with department SMI’s, MP2 maintenance management (CMMS) system, and all ISO quality standards.
3. Diagnose and repair malfunctions in a variety of manufacturing machinery, using electronic testing equipment; such as VOM, oscilloscope, laptop computer, and bench testing apparatus to troubleshoot to the board level.
4. Install and maintain A/C-D/C drives and motors. Perform upgrades as manufacturing conditions dictate.
5. Diagnose PLC malfunctions. An understanding of ladder logic is required.
6. Understanding of HMIs and the associated communications with industrial computers and
PLCs would be extremely beneficial.
7. Knowledge of process controls and the utilization of sensor technology is required.
8. Ensure appropriate information concerning equipment operation and minor maintenance requirements is conveyed to manufacturing personnel on a timely basis.
9. Verify specifications on equipment and complete standardized documentation for installation, maintenance, and operations qualifications.
10. Maintain work area, materials, tools, and equipment to ensure serviceability, cleanliness, and safety.
Knowledge and Experience
An Associate’s degree in Electronics from an accredited college and/or the successful completion of a recognized electronic technician training program.
- A minimum of 3 years of recent and verifiable experience as an Electronics Technician; including a combination of experience in at least two of the following areas: digital, electro- mechanical, or industrial electronics.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required.
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and mechanical disciplines is an asset.
- Good analytical skills.
- Ability to follow highly regulated manufacturing standards.
- Must be capable of performing duties with minimal supervision.
- Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees and the general public
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
Work is performed in a manufacturing plant with exposure to loud noise. Work may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosive, fumes or airborne particles.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, walk, sit, reach, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in the manufacturing plant environment, including hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and other protective equipment as required.
- Must be able to exhibit clear vision at 20 inches or less; and exhibit clear vision at 20 feet or more.
- Must be able to exhibit solid peripheral vision; observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point.
- Must be able to exhibit solid depth perception; three-dimensional vision, ability to judge
- Routinely required to lift objects up to 25 pounds; and occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during course of a workday.
