The Electrical Technician will assemble, install, and test electrical systems and components for turbine generators. This role requires strong hands-on technical skills, the ability to interpret engineering documentation, and the capability to identify and correct non-conforming conditions. Responsibilities include building wiring harnesses and sub-assemblies, installation and troubleshooting control circuits, supporting prototype development, and ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and engineering standards. The technician also supports programming, operation, and maintenance of equipment associated with small turbine generators.
In depth knowledge of the following specialty areas:
- Assemble electrical sub-assemblies, wiring harnesses, and control modules using bills of material, engineering drawings, schematics and quality standards.
- Install and route electrical components in New Build, Overhaul, and associated applications.
- Perform repairs or rework on non-conforming components when required.
- Specialized electronic devices such as transducers, sensors, actuators, and PLCs, etc.
- Conduct component, sub-assembly, and system-level installation, electrical testing, and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot complex AC/DC electrical, electronic, and pneumatic control circuits.
- Perform performance and endurance testing of electrical modules and parts.
- Proactively identify design or production issues and submit Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) as needed.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams on prototype builds, obsolete part development, and design-for-manufacturing improvements.
- Support the resolution of warranty and field issues by providing technical insight.
- AC and DC control circuit fundamentals.
- Excellent working knowledge of the following specialty areas: standard electrical and electronic components in analog and digital circuits.
- Electrical motor applications and controls.
- Methods for trouble-shooting electrical circuits.
- Electrical, electronic, and mechanical engineering drawings.
Demonstrated mastery skills in the following specialty areas:
- Fabrication of production and prototype electrical parts, connectors, wiring, harnesses and modules using specialized hand tools.
- Assembly and installation of production and prototype electrical control modules and systems.
- Perform a variety of electrical component and module performance and endurance tests.
- Advanced troubleshooting of electrical / electronic/ pneumatic control circuits.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively communicate within the company.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage time to complete simultaneous assignments in a matrix, team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions, applying good technical judgment.
- Works closely with engineering team on prototype and obsolete part development.
- Comply with OSHA, EPA, other regulations and FlexEnergy housekeeping and safety rules applicable to job activities.
- Assemble electric sub-assemblies and modules from drawings, sketches, parts lists, or verbal instructions.
- Take initiative to notify Engineers of any production and prototype fit-up problems or suggestions to improve the design for ease of manufacturing and assembly, submit ECR’s (engineering change requests) as needed.
- Perform component, subassembly and electrical component testing.
- Ensure safety of all personnel and equipment.
- Assist in resolving warranty and field problems and internal quality problems.
- Maintain lab test equipment and lab calibration equipment to be productive and to present a positive image to customers and suppliers.
- Assist Engineers and managers to achieve departmental and divisional goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain electrical work on new, rebuild, and overhaul units in the facility.
- Formal Education Requirement:
- HS Diploma or equivalency, Associates/technical degree preferred
- Minimum Years of Experience Necessary:
- Four years of progressive experience as an Electrical Technician or in an area of relevant technology.
Demonstrated mastery skills proficiency in the following specialty areas:
- AC and DC control circuit fundamentals.
- Advanced troubleshooting of electrical / electronic/ pneumatic control circuits.
- Able to work in a team setting to meet production schedules
- Able to work in a demanding production environment
- Use critical thinking skills to identify and resolve production issues
- Working around live voltages
- Mastery in fabrication and assembly of wiring harnesses, connectors, electrical modules, and components.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics and engineering drawings.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions.
- Experience working safely with live voltages and high-energy equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and production priorities.
This job operates in a professional office and manufacturing shop environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Routinely operates hand tools, power tools and machinery.
