Job description
As an electromechanical technician at Visuray, you will be helping develop cutting edge technology that will be deployed globally. Your primary role will involve assembling complex electromechanical tools and helping support the company as it transition from field trials to commercialization and scaling up of its services.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Assembly
•Assemble and configure equipment and systems according to specifications and give feedback to engineering to improve product design.
•Make sure that assembly procedures are being followed and updated where necessary.
•Inspect and prepare parts to high quality standards of cleaning using detailed procedures.
•Ensure tools are ready on planned dates.
•Provide support to Manufacturing and Engineering teams as needed.
Electrical Assembly
•Installation of PCAs, sensors, and wiring on chassis for downhole tools
•Using simple wiring diagrams and schematics to help with tool build
•Performing basic electronics checks of wiring and assembly in accordance to test specifications
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
•Maintain hand tools and equipment in good working condition (replace damaged equipment).
•Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
Parts Management
•Interpret work orders and Bill of Materials (BOM) to determine assembly requirements.
•Identify and pull parts from stock as required.
Quality Control & Documentation
•Recognize and document quality issues and defects. Effectively communicate issues to co-workers and supervisors for potential process improvement.
•Maintain accurate records of manufacturing activities and repairs.
•Help develop and maintain process inspection sheets for manufacturing.
Housekeeping
•Keep work areas clean and organized. Coordinate housekeeping in bay areas and improve layouts as needed.
•Correctly store and mark parts and make sure tools are returned to their place.
•Make sure equipment is calibrated and properly labelled/identifiable.
Safety Compliance
•Ensure the workspace is safe and that work is conducted in a safe manner in compliance with safety regulations, standards, and internal procedures.
Flexibility
•Be prepared to help on other projects as the need arises.
•Learn about the technology.
Minimum Qualifications
•Proficiency in the English language (speaking, writing, and reading).
•Ability to follow written instructions
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
•Reliable transportation to and from work (40-hour work week).
•Ability to stand for up to 8 hours.
•Strong work ethic, emphasizing efficiency on repetitive tasks and tackling technical problems.
Preferred Skills
•Preferred 3-year experience working as a technician in oilfield technology or a related field, if not, previous experience in a factory/production environment.
•Experience with building downhole chassis including installation of PCAs, sensors, and wiring.
•Able to read and understand simple wiring diagrams and schematics.
•Able to perform basic electronics check of wiring and assembly in accordance to test specifications
•Experience working in high voltage environments.
•Experience soldering simple harnesses for downhole tools
•Mechanical inclination, with experience in assembly of mechanical tools.
•Operate a range of machinery and equipment (e.g. sanding belts, drill press, buffing wheels, crimping machine, electric screwdriver, and pressure calibration station).
•Ability to thrive in an environment with shifting priorities and to prioritize work without direct supervision.
•Problem-solving abilities.
