We’re hiring a Journeyperson Electrician to support the Energy and Utilities organization at our Baseplant location in Fort McMurray! If you take pride in safely maintaining a wide variety of industrial equipment to ensure optimum reliability, we want to hear from you! As an Electrician with Suncor, you can expect to learn new things, improve current processes and work with some of the most talented people in our industry!

Minimum Requirements:

- Five years of trade experience as a fully qualified Journeyperson in a large industrial facility

- High voltage experience maintaining, servicing, troubleshooting and switching high voltage systems (equipment up to 15KV)

- A valid Alberta Journeyperson certified or Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician certificate; attach your Journeyman / Red Seal ticket with your application in order to be considered

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

- Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Key Accountabilities:

- Execute planned maintenance and response work

- Install, service, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide spectrum of plant electrical equipment and machinery in high- and low-voltage applications

- Maintain, test and ensure the functionality of electrical equipment protection systems, safety systems, emergency shutdown (ESD) equipment, and backup systems

- Execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs for electrical systems

- Participate in failure analysis discussions

- Plan jobs, which includes material assessment and selection

- Develop and execute switching procedures

- Assist other maintenance and production technicians to ensure equipment and plant reliability

- Maintain equipment history as required

Location & other key details

- You will work out of our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray , Alberta

- The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)

- This position is safety sensitive

- You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use of ladders and working on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined
