Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Electrical Maintenance Supervisor located at Cooper Nuclear Stationin Brownville, Nebraska. Position closes Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.


Position Summary

Provide oversight and guidance to reports in Electrical discipline. Review work orders and reports generated by electrical group. Take active ownership, direct, and oversee the performance of calibration, surveillance testing, preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment at Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS) to ensure the health and safety of the public and the efficient operation of CNS. The Supervisor is responsible to properly review and approve detailed technical work packages, properly implement integrated work schedules (daily, weekly, emergent, and outage), and assign work to qualified personnel. He/she is also responsible to ensure the work done in the field will correctly test/repair CNS systems and equipment, be in compliance with CNS procedures, management expectations, and regulatory requirements and will not cause reactor trips, emergency system initiation, or equipment damage. The Supervisor is responsible to maintain supervisor qualifications.


Education, Training and Experience

Two year technical college graduate in electrical field and five years of experience as described below.


OR

Successful completion of military schooling in electrical maintenance and five years of experience as described below.


OR

High school/GED and ten years of electrical maintenance experience, including four years in a nuclear power plant.


Prior Related Experience

Experience in electrical maintenance or experience in operations is required. Demonstrated proficiency with automated planning, scheduling, and project management tools is required. Demonstrated leadership skills and overall integration of NPPD's key enabling processes is required.

Note: Other work experience or demonstrated performance indicating that the applicant has the skills and ability to perform the required duties may be substituted for the specific years of experience.

Must be qualified to American National Standards Institute (ANSI) N-18.1-1971 requirements. (Documentation of qualifications is a condition of employment.)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead and direct the resolution of field problems/concerns involving maintenance work at CNS.

Recommend, develop, and implement strategies and troubleshooting techniques on complex CNS systems to ensure proper operation of plant equipment and systems at CNS.

Prioritize, plan, and manage weekly/daily scheduled work based on importance to plant safety, performance, goals, and efficiency.

Drive subordinates to continuously improve performance and processes.

Provide 24-hour plant operational emergent maintenance analysis and resource allocation to resolve abnormal plant equipment conditions.

Develop complete and detailed work packages with job hazard analyses for use by craft personnel to perform required maintenance while practicing strict adherence to all safety practices for the work being proceduralized, performed, or planned. Perform 10CFR50.59 Safety Evaluations as necessary.

Direct and oversee (or when necessary perform) work in the field and act in the position of Superintendent during absence of regular duty personnel.

Serve as liaison and technical expert with Engineering Department and other departments (and/or vendors) to develop, coordinate, and implement station modification activities.

Maintain qualification (as directed) which includes attending continuing training. Stay current with applicable regulatory changes to ensure regulatory compliance and ensure compliance with ANSI and Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) requirements.

Participate in Emergency Response Organization as directed by Management.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.


Pay Grade - 15 Monthly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $9,155.00 - $11,673.00


Travel Required: Up to 25% (With frequent overnight stays, more than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.

Retirement Savings

NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
