The

Electrical Engineer, Projects

provides leadership, technical expertise, and business perspective in all areas related to the refinery electrical systems. As a member of the corporate engineering projects team, this role will be involved in a variety of projects, including capital project execution, engineering, procurement, and construction. This role ensures projects are technically sound and that they achieve safety, reliability, and environmental objectives and are consistent with PSM management of change.

Responsibilities May Include

- Staying current and proficient with relevant electrical codes and practices

- Collaborating with operations and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement and reliability of electrical components, equipment, and systems

- Supporting designs, cost estimates, and management of projects working together with an EPC contractor

- Providing technical guidance to ensure electrical system design is executed in an effective, timely, and cost-efficient manner

- Ensuring project scope and cost is controlled and change is managed

- Establishing priorities, deliverables and deadlines aligned with capital project strategies

- Providing technical expertise for design and procurement of equipment, including power distribution systems, motor controls, switch gear, UPS systems, and substations

- Providing technical support for electrical systems design, specification, installation, testing, and start-up

- Participating in refining electrical reliability network and industry technical societies

- Promoting and assisting with the management and development of standards, best practices, and guidelines for electrical systems with both corporate and site staff

- Successfully managing competing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously

- Accountable for managing time to deliver on commitments


Required Qualifications

- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering

- 10 or more years of refining, petrochemical or related industry experience

- Technical expertise with a variety of electrical equipment

- Ability to apply technical expertise to problem solving while achieving broad business objectives

- Personal discipline to balance short-term demands with long-term objectives

- Must be available for travel up to 25% of the time.


Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering

- 20 or more years of refining, petrochemical or related industry experience

- Experience and understanding of plant maintenance, operations, and project execution practices

- Experience working with Engineering Contractors on Projects

- Ability to direct activities and priorities of others through influence

- Ability to develop and communicate clear and specific strategies and tactics

- Accepts ownership, is accountable, and delivers on commitments

- Drives company core values

- Encourages creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement

- Willing and able to relocate to Houston
